  • Ken forwarded the workplan to the Executive, and our work group has received direction to continue with our workplan as is.
  • Michael has confirmed the website software is ready to go.
2. Summary of census long form
  • Lots of background discussion is happening on change to census long form.
  • Information in media is very up to date.
  • The CCSD website has good background information. A more formalized toolkit will be available for organizations and networks to use. The content for the NHS is to be published by StatCan by end of July.
  • The NHS is to follow the census short form by 4 weeks.
3. New Business
  • If we are purchasing data based on the NHS, we will need to do our best to replicate variables from previous census data purchases.
  • Received some feedback to include individual years of age for 0-18 for more of the tables, so customized age cohorts can be created. Recommend to include both individual ages and customized age cohorts in tables.
  • The survey does not get into the detail of variable groups (ie. age cohort groups), but this level of detail might lend itself best to a later consultation with members of the CSDS by this WG.
  • The LIM might be a census variable in 2011. The Market Basket Measure is not a census derived variable, but we may consider this is as a separate purchase.
  • Translation is currently in the Terms of Reference (TOR) of the Capacity WG, and there are discussions about developing a small team within CSDS who can do this work. Isabelle would like to be a part of that.
  • The working documents for each of the task groups will be posted on the password-protected new CSDS website, URL will be forwarded when it’s ready to go. This will be a repository of documents, TOR, contact information, etc.
  • Thanks to Isabelle for translating all the work group names! Process to better communicate information between and among WG’s, leads and Executive is being discussed.
4. Action Items:
  • Ken will forward the survey draft to the Executive.
  • Ian will prepare a sentence regarding the voluntary NHS for the invitation email to accompany the survey.
  • Michael will prepare a workspace for the APD WG.
  • Isabelle will work with Sara and others regarding Translation Survey Actions:
  • Seek executive approval for Leads Process and CSDS Needs Assessments Survey on Aug. 11 - Ken
  • APD WG to meet August 12 to discuss and act on any suggestions from executive.
  • Modified surveys to be translated – Isabelle and translation Team
  • Survey to be posted online (Michael) and tested (APD WG)
  • Survey to be sent out to Leads and to Members with an including an explanatory note (Ken) regarding census changes (Acacia & CCSD)
  • Data are analyzed & reported by December 2010 (Acacia & APD WG)
  • An intention to purchase request is made to StatCan in January of 2011 to ensure CSDS is at the top of the Cue (Acacia and WG)
  • Follow-up work on estimates and scheduling
5. Next meeting:
  • Executive will look at the survey and approve in August; once approved, will be ready for translation.
  • APD WG to discuss the new work space.
