Communities across Canada have experienced – and will continue to experience – significant weather-related events or disasters triggered by climate change. The impacts of climate change are evident, including observed changes in air temperature, precipitation, snow and ice cover and others.
The Canadian Community Economic Development Network (CCEDNet) is now accepting project proposals to implement regional systems building projects, focused on supporting community organizations, social enterprises, and community economic development (CED). Accepted projects will be able to access a $5,000 to $80,000 grant to support their initiative. Proposals are accepted on a rolling basis and will be reviewed by staff with additional input from members or partners.
On February 22nd and 23rd, 2023, Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada and the Canada School of Public Service will be co-hosting the seventh annual Government of Canada Data Conference. This event "serves as a focal point for public servants and data leaders to share knowledge in order to advance Canada’s commitment to provide higher-quality data, insights and services to all".
Statistics Canada is currently conducting a public consultation on the 2026 Census of Population. The online consultation questionnaire allows Canadians to provide input on the census to help determine the content and dissemination strategy of the next Census. New 2021 Census data were released on Novmeber 30th.
On Wednesday, December 7th, Statistics Canada will be hosting a webinar titled 2021 Census Webinar Series: Education, Labour, Language of work, Commuting, and Instruction in the minority official language. This webinar will provide information on the final 2021 Census release coming November 30th, as well as findings from the data. The presentation will be followed by a Q&A with Statistics Canada officials. The webinar is being held in both English and French.
